Meet Mrs. Hawkaluk: Guiding Young Minds with Heart
Since 2012, Mrs. Hawkaluk has been shaping young minds as a dedicated 1st-grade teacher at St. Ignatius Schools. Her passion for teaching, love for her students, and close bond with her fellow teachers make her an essential part of our school community. Here’s what she has to say about her experience:
Why do you love teaching at St. Ignatius?
“I love teaching at our school because I get to work with really great kids. They bring joy to each and every day. I also love teaching with my K-2 team of teachers. We are good friends and love to make learning fun!”
What’s the most common advice you give your students?
“Our best learning happens when we are making mistakes and learning from them.”
What’s one thing you wish more families knew about our school?
“I wish more families in the community knew how hard our teachers and administrators work for our kids. We really give our all each day.”
What’s your most memorable teaching moment?
“My most memorable moments happen each day that I get to just laugh with my students. When something funny happens, and we take a few moments to giggle—it might be something I do or something a kid says or does. It’s okay to just have fun with my students sometimes.”
*Fun Fact: When she’s not in the classroom, you can almost always find Mrs. Hawkaluk in the gym or on the field cheering on her family in their numerous sports and activites. The Hawkaluk family is proudly involved in All Things Bulldog!!
Thank you, Mrs. Hawkaluk, for your dedication, laughter, and the love you pour into your classroom every day. We’re lucky to have you as part of our St. Ignatius School family!
