Community Showcase: This year we are trying something new for showcase.  We will have break-out sessions available to share systems with the community.  This will help us to better inform our community about our school programs and procedures.  We will have the traditional dinner and we encourage that everyone attend sessions to better inform themselves about the great school here in St. Ignatius, MT.  We are a best practice school please attend and allow us to show you why. J See you at the Community Showcase!!  Go Bulldogs!! \r\n

Makerspace STEAM Lab:  Makerspace STEAM Lab is coming to St. Ignatius!!  Students will be excited to learn in this new 21st Century Learning Space.  STEAM- Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math     \r\n

\r\n

STEAM Lab's are best practice in order to expose students to what will be needed for their future.  This is a growing part of changing traditional education to making learning more integrated with hands-on real life issues that involve discovery. Students thrive on this new format and seem to really want to be a part of these activities.  Schools have seen increased attendance and fewer drop-outs by making education more relevant to students in areas that expand traditional classes. We have received a 16K grant from Gear Up for STEAM to supply this room with materials and hopes we can repeat this grant next year. We are very excited to offer this opportunity to our students and community.  \r\n

More information from Google search of defining STEAM education: IN TODAY’S EVER-CHANGING WORLD, educators have quite a role to play: making sure students complete their K–12 schooling well-prepared for college and careers, even though their career choices are as yet undefined. They are constantly reminded that the jobs of today’s grade-schoolers haven’t been invented, and that the days of keeping the same job for decades are long over. The target moves as technology advances.\r\n

\r\n

BUT ONE THING IS FOR SURE: The jobs of tomorrow will require creativity and innovation. As author Daniel H. Pink describes, “the future belongs to a different kind of person with a different kind of mind: designers, inventors, teachers, storytellers: creative and empathetic ‘right-brain’ thinkers whose abilities mark the fault line between who gets ahead and who doesn’t.” While the STEM movement—a call to elevate the studies of science, technology, engineering and mathematics as a national priority—began to take shape in 2006, a separate push to add the arts to that equation, transforming STEM to STEAM, followed soon after.
